You know when you have one of those perfect weekends? Where everything just falls in to place and you don't have a care in the world? Everything is just perfect. Wonderfully perfect. Well, that was this last weekend (March 7th and 8th).
We found out that Dustin's grandma (Nanu) had a fall at the nursing home and had to be rushed to the hospital. She broke her hip and had surgery that Friday morning. We traveled to Murfreesboro to see her and the family. She was recovering and doing just fine. Tired. Very tired. So while she slept, we visited with Dorothy and Coleman. Emma FINALLY warmed up to Coleman, her PaPa. It made him so incredibly happy. They played airplane, made bubbles, tickled... made this mama happy.
We visited Dustin's grandpa (Dadu) in the nursing home there after. He has had several strokes, so his mind is not fully there, BUT he did know who Dustin and I were, which made us feel good. Emma passed out in my arms, so he couldn't interact with her but I think she made him happy. Who doesn't love seeing a precious angel sleeping? Especially in a nursing home, Emma put a smile on everyone's face that walked by.
We left mid afternoon and headed home. It felt awesome outside (finally semi-warm and not snowing out... I'll take it), so we went for a long walk in the neighborhood. Both kids (Emma and the dog, Moose) loved it! It was nice to get out and stretch our legs, it is starting to feel like spring again! YAY! My favorite season!
Sunday, we had planned on getting up and going to church, but Emma had a different plan in mind. She got up at her normal time (even though it was daylight saving time... spring forward) and we played, ate some cereal (the normal morning routine), and then it was bottle time... that is when she passed out HARD. Heavy breathing like her daddy... err... her mama. And what do they say, 'you don't wake a sleeping baby' and that we did NOT. She slept for 2.5 hours in my arms. I should have put her in her crib, but who doesn't love Sunday morning snuggles with your one and only babe?
Soon after she had lunch, we all went for another walk around the neighborhood, dropped off Moose at the house, and then the 3 of us headed to the park. Surprisingly, there was hardly anyone there, only a father and daughter playing. Shocking. Oh Well.. we will take it! Emma got to swing for the first time. She was iffy at first, but warmed up to it and we swung for 15 minutes. It was the cutest thing I have ever witnessed. We tried the slide afterwards, with Dustin's assistance of course, but she wasn't having it. So we headed back.
That night we celebrated my brother and his wife's (Bub and Ashley) birthdays. The March birthdays in the family. Mom and Dad went all out with a pasta buffet.. aka.. Italian feast. It was delicious and was so nice playing with the kids outside. Emma just sat in the lawn and took it all in. I'm sure wishing she could run and play with the big kids... soon enough kiddo!
That night after the party at the rents' house, we got home and sat on the couch, after putting the babe to bed, we turned on Parenthood (best show ever!) and said to each other.. "Wow. Great weekend loves". Yep. That it was. Looking forward to another one...
XOXO
