D-Day :: Daycare

We started Ms E at daycare in Franklin last week on the 6th. Talk about a great welcoming for my little girl! This mama was so happy to see this sweet little surprise. I immediately knew she would be well taken care of.

New home away from home.

When we dropped her off the first day... this is where we left her.. Happy and content.

Everyone said it was going to be hard and they were not lying. The first week, I don't think she knew what was going on, so drop offs were not as hard as I thought. Of course I cried... but she didn't. Thank God.

Here are the reports from the first week...

This week (week 2)... one word. Tough.

She is very smart so it doesn't surprise me that she picked it up quickly that she was going to school everyday. This week we walk in and she clings to my hip. Not going to lie, I do love this because up this point Emma has been a daddy's girl, but it makes that much harder to leave (for me and her). Lets just say that was lots of crying, screaming and reaching out for 'mamamama'.

I emailed them to make sure she was ok...

But the upsides obviously always outweigh the tears and heartbreak (mainly from me), right? Her teacher, Ms Kenzie (who I adore already), was very proud of Emma yesterday because she finally ate some food from her -- yogurt, berries and applesauce (fruits and sweets... that's my girl). This is great news considering she barely eats table foods at daycare or at home... she might be a picky eater like her daddy.

So our motto from now is...Take it a day at a time and any progress is good progress.

Here she is talking to her best buddy, Babyb and cheesing for the camera. Of course.

We were incredibly blessed to have parents that were (physically and... mentally) willing to watch her up until she was One. But, Dustin and I were both daycare babies so we always knew this would be inevitable given that we both work and can't stay home with her. She's adjusting and its a learning experience for everyone, most importantly Emma. I can't imagine being One, teething, meeting all these new kiddos and adults, doing all these new activities PLUS with a new schedule for eating and sleeping...

Emma goals (well lets say... hopes) for this year at daycare -
Learn to walk
Learn to eat more table food
Learn more words/sign language

Our goals for this year at daycare -
Meet some parents of these kiddos -- Lets be honest, with this hectic world that we live in it would be nice to meet people in the same stage of life.

Tomorrow is Friday... and then the weekend. Can I get an Amen? We are headed to Chattanooga for a Saturday day trip to the aquarium. Dani and Audrey are meeting us there... and since my best friend/co-worker friend, Sarah, got us free tickets... why wouldn't we go?

-- blog to come --
This will be Emma's first experience at an aquarium and the 2nd play date for A and E (besties for life)

Happy Thursday
xoxo

Update -- as of 8/13/15, you are now LOVING daycare. Drop off is not bad at all and you are eating solids and WALKING. 2 goals already marked off the list in just a months time.

Happy Birthday America!

Our 4th was pretty low key.

We shopped at the mall after visiting with family at lunch on Friday. I needed some new shoes and Emma liked the full length mirror, so we hung out there for a while.

There was lots of walking around the neighborhood, cuddling, holding, napping and playing.  A teething babe is not fun but she was pretty happy considering she was hurting and had a fever. Needless to say this mama has jello arms from carrying my 21 lb babe all weekend. But hey, totally worth it!

There was lots of red, white, and blue and lots of flag waving.

Dad came home and he needed some sugars from his girl.

God Bless America!

USA... Land of the Free and Home of the Brave!!

OH and Emma now says "What's Up"

And to close out a very patriotic weekend... The US Women's Soccer Team beat Japan 5-2 on Sunday! Go USA!!!
