Seeing as we are half way through the week, I thought I would recap this past weekend... You know when you have one of those perfect weekends? Where everything just falls in to place and you don't have a care in the world? Everything is just perfect. Wonderfully perfect. Well, that was this last weekend (March 7th and 8th).
We found out that Dustin's grandma (Nanu) had a fall at the nursing home and had to be rushed to the hospital. She broke her hip and had surgery that Friday morning. We traveled to Murfreesboro to see her and the family. She was recovering and doing just fine. Tired. Very tired. So while she slept, we visited with Dorothy and Coleman. Emma FINALLY warmed up to Coleman, her PaPa. It made him so incredibly happy. They played airplane, made bubbles, tickled... made this mama happy.
We visited Dustin's grandpa (Dadu) in the nursing home there after. He has had several strokes, so his mind is not fully there, BUT he did know who Dustin and I were, which made us feel good. Emma passed out in my arms, so he couldn't interact with her but I think she made him happy. Who doesn't love seeing a precious angel sleeping? Especially in a nursing home, Emma put a smile on everyone's face that walked by. We left mid afternoon and headed home. It felt awesome outside (finally semi-warm and not snowing out... I'll take it), so we went for a long walk in the neighborhood. Both kids (Emma and the dog, Moose) loved it! It was nice to get out and stretch our legs, it is starting to feel like spring again! YAY! My favorite season!
Sunday, we had planned on getting up and going to church, but Emma had a different plan in mind. She got up at her normal time (even though it was daylight saving time... spring forward) and we played, ate some cereal (the normal morning routine), and then it was bottle time... that is when she passed out HARD. Heavy breathing like her daddy... err... her mama. And what do they say, 'you don't wake a sleeping baby' and that we did NOT. She slept for 2.5 hours in my arms. I should have put her in her crib, but who doesn't love Sunday morning snuggles with your one and only babe?
Soon after she had lunch, we all went for another walk around the neighborhood, dropped off Moose at the house, and then the 3 of us headed to the park. Surprisingly, there was hardly anyone there, only a father and daughter playing. Shocking. Oh Well.. we will take it! Emma got to swing for the first time. She was iffy at first, but warmed up to it and we swung for 15 minutes. It was the cutest thing I have ever witnessed. We tried the slide afterwards, with Dustin's assistance of course, but she wasn't having it. So we headed back.
That night we celebrated my brother and his wife's (Bub and Ashley) birthdays. The March birthdays in the family. Mom and Dad went all out with a pasta buffet.. aka.. Italian feast. It was delicious and was so nice playing with the kids outside. Emma just sat in the lawn and took it all in. I'm sure wishing she could run and play with the big kids... soon enough kiddo!
That night after the party at the rents' house, we got home and sat on the couch, after putting the babe to bed, we turned on Parenthood (best show ever!) and said to each other.. "Wow. Great weekend loves". Yep. That it was. Looking forward to another one... XOXO
Dustin has been 31 for a month (as of yesterday!). Time flies when you are having fun, I guess. So re-cap of the birthday crazy in February is only appropriate (a month later).
We celebrated Dustin's birthday (2/3) the weekend before with a little gun range action and some Outback. The best thing about this was he had NO idea what I got him for his present. He was shocked (literally stood there silent when he opened his present). My parents, who were watching Emma for the night, and I thought he didn't like because he was so quiet. But come to find out he was thrilled and didn't know what to say. Nice. Dustin being surprised to silence...I'll take it that he really liked his present!
We had a little party for all the Feb birthdays on my side of the family after church on the 15th. Dustin (2/3) turned 31, my mom (2/27) turned 61, and I (2/22) turned 29. It was nice family day over my brothers house for burgers on his new grill and then delicious cake after blowing out the candles. After the celebration, my friend Alli and I had dinner and saw 50 Shades of Grey, but we won't elaborate on that...
The following week was my birthday. Nashville had a crazy ice/snow storm hit so I got to spend the majority of the week with my girl. Talk about an awesome birthday present! But alas, had to go back to work (for 2 days... not bad) and then it was the weekend again. That Saturday, my friend Erica was supposed to come in for a visit but the weather made her change plans. Missed her so much. So off to Reme Lynn's (Jess from work little girl) birthday we went. She turned 2 on the 20th. Precious blonde little beauty. It was jungle themed and Jess went all out! It was perfect at Monkey Treehouse! Good times. The next, we went to Murfreesboro to celebrate my birthday and the rest of the Feb birthdays on Dustin's side of the family. I'm telling you... February is CRAZY with all the birthdays! We had a birthday bash for Dustin, his mom, Meredith, and myself. It was a nice family day with great food and gifts!
Monday night some of my friends got together at Virago for sushi and drinks. Delicious. No pictures from that because the lighting was so bad. But first, Brad (boss man at work) surprised me with a little bowling session at Pinewood Social.. so off we went. The whole media gang bowled for about an hour with the names- Brad (boring), Pip (Caroline), Swag (Maggie), Kitty (Sarah), and Red29 (me).. and Jay joined us later. Good times with great friends made that Monday extra special for me. Truly blessed to have those people in my life.
February may be crazy but it is happy chaos filled with delicious food, great talks, awesome gifts, and pure love from the people around you that you love the most. Birthdays are always good for the memory bank. So...cheers to being 29... last year in my twenties... next year... VEGAS BOUND with the hubs for my big 3-0!! XoXo
